Its finally OVER...

YAY!!!! The exams are finally over. Not long awaited! The partying started on saturday with me going over to a friend's place for dinner. It was good! The teriyaki chicken was finger licking good. I came home and caught a show or rather fell asleep halfway through. I just fell asleep in front of the laptop. Haha

Tuesday was an equally good day. But then again all days are good especially since you do not have any assignment to rush for..hehe I had to do some grocery shopping in the morning. Watched a movie in the afternoon and went out for dinner in the evening. We were celebrating our fellow RT classmate's, Jun Ting's birthday. Her birthday is in mid-december but since we will not all be together we celebrated it earlier. We had italian cuisine which was good. I had seafood omelette.

Today is another pigging out day. But i did some work in the morning. I cleaned up the house and my room. I made chicken curry. I did my laundry. It was a pretty fruitful day actually. Then went out for lunch with my RT friends at this Korean restaurant in Strathfield. I think it is one of the best restaurants i have eaten at. Now i am back updating my blog. Will be heading out in the evening to pick my best friend up from the airport! I am so looking forward to her arrival. Will keep you guys posted. Look out for more pics!

Till the next entry....Have a good time!

I am 3/4 way through the semestral examinations...

Its almost the end of November. I will be marking the end of my semestral examination on monday. Its something that i am really looking forward to. The studying has dried out my brains. But i guess thats the story of a student's life.

My best friend is gonna be down on wednesday. So i am trying to think of what to do and where to bring her. But other than that, nothing much has been happening. Oh ya! Remember my snake story?

Well the pest busters were supposed to come in on friday, thats yesterday. But its been raining the entire week non-stop. They had to postphone the busting exercise due to the weather and will have to change our appointment. But oh well! I guess the snake is happy ad alive downstairs. My sister was like " you guys keeping it as your pet is it?" Hmmmmmmmm actually snakes are rather exotic creatures. Its a good consideration though. Can you imagine someone coming up to me and asking, "so do you keep any pets?". I will reply " yeh! i keep a snake!!!" *faint*

Sorry just me being crappy. I am going back on christmas. Wanted to spend christmas here but my dad is trying to psycho me to come back the week after next to attend my cousin's wedding in Kluang. He is even going to the extent of asking me to email him my flight arrangements so that he can change the flight.I have not given it to him as yet and don't plan to!! HAHAH..

So anyway...Its a normal saturday afternoon here. I can finally see some sunshine after i think one and a half weeks. Boy! Now its time for me to do my laundry and hang it!! So till the next entry, You guys take care and for those who are sitting for exams..HANG IN THERE DUDES!!!

Blackout

There was a blackout last night or rather early this morning. It was raining carts and dogs. So the cables opposite our house were sparking away. It w as so bad you could even hear the sounds. According to my housemates, it was just like fireworks in the air only this time it is closer to the ground. A while later someone came over to fix it. He then came to our side of the road to cut off some wire and the eletricity in house went off.

We could not get anyone to come over at the wee hours of the night so my housemate siti tried to get the lights back on but to no avail. I heard some voices by the window this morning. The electricity was back on. I guess the guys last night came to rectify what they did wrong last night. So now i have electricity!

Well this is a short entry. I have nothing else to write about yet. So cheers people!

Cheers

My First Movie In Australia! First TWO movies actually...

Its the end of another week in the year. Our MRP report was finished and i just handed it in today actually. So its the exam week next week. Another struggle!!But then again, All work and NO play makes Parvin a dull woman. So i happily spent the entire day out today.

I went to uni in the morning to hand in the report. It is due on Friday actually bu i thought since i was already dressed to head out, i might as well just head down to the campus and hand the assignment in. If not come friday, i would have to get dressed and leave the house just to hand in the assignment. Too much of a bother ...hehe

I had McDonald's breakfast today as well. My first Mac's breakfast in Aussie as well. I had the bacon and egg meal as everything else was beef. Heeeeelllllooo!!!! Haven't you heard of CHICKEN?? so anyways...Then took the train down to Burwood.I have been wanting to catch ' Exoricism Of Emily Rose' and was hoping to catch an afternoon show BUT just my luck they had a late afternoon show (4.15pm) and i was like alright...so what am i supposed to do in the mean time??? How many times can you be going in and out of the shops?? So i came up with a wacky idea of watching an earlier show to kill time. So my housemate and i decided on ' The Constant Gardener'. In conclusion, i caught two shows.

Both were equally GOOD!!!! But i prefered 'The Constant Gardener' better though. It was about how drug companies test drugs on helpless children in Africa. It was a very moving story. I seriosuly recommend you guys catching it.
I will not spoil the fun by telling you the entire storyline. Go catch it yourself ;-)

The Emily Rose movie was quite a show i must say. I will not elaborate further. I just don't want to. The experience was just a hit in the face. Oh well!!

So as i gear myself for another stressful week, the people back home are almost done with their exams. I am looking forward to the arrival of my best friend on the 30th. I guess thats something to look forward too and that will help me get through the week.

Thats it for now! Till the next entry.....Cheerios.....

Hissssss...

I think you guys have had enough of my inspiration stories and poem, so i'll update you with happenings in Sydney for a change!

Its officially the end of semester one. We have a week break before the start of our exams. However duing this break, we have to finish up our medical radiation science project's report and to top it off, i have a lifespan psychology assignment to hand in too. Oh well! I am sure you did not come here to read how laden i am with work. So anywazzzzzzzz....

This has been a rather eventful week. My housemates found a dying mouse in front of the fridge one night. They covered it with a pail leaving Jia Lei to discover it in the morning. She did get a shock of her life. I was the next one up and was utterly disgusted. I refused to look at it and went straight to the bathroom to wash up and have breakfast. So my poor friend had to pick the mouse up and dispose it. She of course had to fill me in with details about the mouse. She said that it had a long tail. It was warm but its body was hard. And i was like HELLLLLLOOOOOOO......me trying to eat!!! But i think she got the hint from my facial expression but she laughed it off anyway. So that was a fantabulous wake up call for me in sydney.

That very afternoon i came home after class and my Jia Lei told me that she had been hearing hissing noises from underneath her room and the livivng room. I told her that it was probably the wind rustling as i have heard such noise before. She was like alright. But then as i was lying down on my bed preparing to take a nap, i heard hissing noises beneath my floorboard. I could hear my hear thumping in my chest. I thought i was imagining things. I listened for the noise again and yes it was a HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!! I jumped out of my bed and went to tell Jia Lei that her suspicions were right. I called my house agent to tell him about the situation and he went 'No Kidding!!!!!' . Helllllllllooooooooo... I am not so creative to actually make up a snake story to scare people.

He got in some one to look at the house the next day. That guy sent the gardeners to clean up the garden and underneath my house. They did not find anything. So i am not sure what to feel. Relieved?? Well maybe..To know that there is no such guest around however, what happens if the snake decided to pay a visit to my neighbour's house and it had gone away while they had the checks. It will come home sooner or later,,,,arghhh!!! Ok i think i am thinking wa too much! Enough of details.

Now even when i enter the toilet i will look around to see if there is anything...No peace of mind even in the toilet!!

Its The Journey That Is Important

Well as a result of my aimless surfing, I have a poem for each and everyone of you. Enjoy! Flowers For You

Life, sometimes so wearying

Is worth its weight in gold

The experience of travelling

Lends a wisdom that is old

Beyond our 'living memory'

A softly spoken prayer:

"Its the journey that is important,

Not the getting there!"

Ins and outs and ups and downs

Life's road meanders aimlessly?

Or so it seems, but somehow

Leads us where we need to be

And being simply human

We often question and compare,

"Is the journey so important

Or is getting there?"

And thus its always been

That question pondered down the ages

By simple men with simple ways

To wise and ancient sages...

How sweet then, quietly knowing

Reaching destination fair:

"Its the journey thats important,

Not getting there!"

Have A Read...

It is that time of the year again where students all over the world (i think) are busy preparing for the dreaded exams. I am no different. I have got a story for each and everyone of you as you go through this period of intense pressure. Have a good read!

The Carpenter's House

An elderly carpenter was all ready to retire. He told his employer about his plans to leave the house-building bussiness and live a more leisurely life with his wife and extended family.

He would miss the pay check but he needed to retire. They could get by.

The contractor was sorry to see such a good worker go and asked if he could build one more house as a personal favour. The carpenter agreed but in time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end his career.

When the carpenter finished his work and the builder came to inspect the house, the contractor handed the front door key to the carpenter. 'This is your house' he said 'my gift to you'.

What a shock! What a shame! If he had only known that he was building his own house, he would have done it so differently. Now he had to live in a home he had not built too well.

So it is with us as well. We build our lives in a distracted way, reactin rather than acting, willing to put up less than the best. At important points, we do not give the job our best efforts. Then with a shock we look at the situation we have created and find out that we are now living in a house that we have built. If we had realized that, we would have done it differently.

Think of yourself as the carpenter. Think about your house. Each day you hammer a nail, place a board or erect a wall. Build wisely. This is the only life you will ever build. Even if you live it for only one day more, that day deserves to be lived graciously and with dignity. The plaque on the wall says 'Life is a do-it-yourself project' . Your life tomorrow will be the result of the attitudes and the choices you make today.

So Its A Sunday...

Another weekend has flown past. I am exhausted from everything. But i know the semester is coming to an end so i must hang on!

The lunch on friday went well. We went to this Bollywood chinese cuisine restaurant in Liverpool. I had Singaporean Fried Rice which tasted great. They even provided sambal which was a hit on our table. I think we finished the entire jar for them. Hehehe.. The serving was huge so we were covered for two meals. The money was worth spending. We walked around liverpool after that. Its a very punjabi town with loads of skih shops. It felt like a was walking down Southall in UK. We ended up having McDonalds for dessert. We came back to Lidcombe for that. I felt like having entertainment badly so i decided to borrow a DVD which i did. I fell asleep halfway through the movie. It was not boring BUT i was just too tired.

I went down to city on saturday. I had to look for a book for my old man. I kinda got it but i needed to order it so i had to make sure my dad gives me the right details. I also went down to the Glipe market. Bought a bag and a book. :-) Was looking for a skirt but unfortunately i did not see anything nice. Actually it can be FORTUNATELY i did not see anything nice. I had wantan noodles for dinner. There were too many dumplings so i passed half of them to my friend who was with me. We then walked down to Darling Habour to take a walk. But it was packed with people. It was a saturday night after all so what can you expect! Had coffee at starbucks and before we realised it, it was already eleven. So overall i had a very enjoyable and relaxing weekend. I have a project meeting later this evening.

I finished my laundry for the week this morning. Its very tiring to hand wash your clothes. Bless the person who invented the washing machine. But its an experience so i guess i will appreciate the washing machine back home. The washing machine has become such an important part of our lives that we cannot do without it. I remember when the washing machine back home broke down, the house was upside down. Clothes had to be hand washed. It was quite terrible! To make matters worse, the washing machine could only be delivered two days after the order. So our agony was extended. But now, i guess its not too bad since i only do my laundry like twice a week. So peeps, APPRECIATE the washing machine.

Its a time for celebrations..

Yo peeps! I guess you guys in singapore have been having a good week. Two public holidays and lots of makan sessions. While you all were busy eating and visiting, I was stuck in MY ROOM doing my module report which wasn't fun. I spent my diwali at home in front of the laptop chatting with my family while they tried their very best to get me into the 'gathering'.

I just came from uni after handing in the report. It feels good to drop it in the assignment box. I am now ready to have a good rest before i have to work on my cognitive and cognition presentation and not forgetting my medical radiation project's report. Arghhhhhh!! Never ending BUT lets just forget it for NOW..

I am going to join my friends for a DeepaRaya celebratory lunch. We are going to have some bollywood chinese cuisine in Liverpool. Will let you know how that goes. Will definately take loads of pictures. So bye for now maybe i shall snap a picture of myself first.hehe

The Festival Of Lights

As echelons of zillion lights adorn,
and echoes of triumph and thunder swarm,
watching even a tiny gleam perform,
devoring ill,
sparkling joy despite forlorn,
exhorts a hearty and happy year merely born

I don't know..

Daylight saving has started. I have technically lost an hour. But i guess you just have to adjust your time from there. The day was mundane. Was given another assignment to hand in. I just had dinner. Did not feel like eating. Played around with my food. Can be quite fun when you're bored. The sun is setting. The streets are almost quiet except for the occassional trucks and the impatient horns of drivers.

Its the eve of diwali. I am missing everyone back home terribly. I am looking forward to going back. Life here is great but i am damn ****ing lonely. I will survive. I will make sure i do!
